Pokeweed
Press
Specially
priced books for non-profit reading
programs. $2 each with minimum order
Once again, Pokeweed is making a limited time offer open to service organizations and non-profit
groups providing literacy and reading material to community groups and
institutions in Canada and the United States.
When this special price was initially offered in
January 2011, organizations ordered almost 8,000 books
with total customer savings of more than $30,000 — in just two months!
Typical
uses of
these books have been as giveaways to children, parents, schools and
libraries; as gifts for literacy or special non-profit holiday programs
(ie. birthday gift donations); new baby literacy projects; and many
other programs that put books into the hands of young readers as a
charitable act.
Groups
invited to participate are service clubs, community groups, literacy
organizations, schools, libraries and government or non-government
agencies.
Books
are priced at $2 each, plus applicable taxes (gst, hst, etc.). This
is an average 70% discount off retail prices.
Minimum
order is 100 books — $200 per order. Average orders have been for 200 books.
(Books can be ordered in smaller quantities at a cost of $5 each.)
Purchasers
will be responsible for shipping
(and cross border brokerage fees for shipments to the USA.) The
publisher will endeavour to keep those costs to a minimum and
communicate the amount of those charges before any order is shipped.
(We are currently keeping costs down by using Canada Post, Greyhound
Bus Lines and United Parcel Service -- each offers distinct savings in
particular regions.)
Shipping costs are typically less than 15% of the value of the book oarder. YOU WILL ONLY BE CHARGED THE ACTUAL COST OF SHIPPING. When costs rise above 15%, you will be contacted to approved the added expense before the final invoice is sent.
Purchasers will be invoiced by PayPal — payable by major credit cards — in advance of shipping an order.
Purchase orders from school boards are welcome.
Inventory
levels of particular titles vary and
the publisher cannot guarantee all books shown on this website will
remain available for the duration of this program. Pokeweed Press will
try to keep the website updated to reflect availability.
Your
e-mail or telephone inquiries are welcome.
At
its discretion, the
publishers reserve the right to end or change the promotion at any time
and may restrict the participation of any group or individual and the
terms of purchase being offered.
